Do you wish to exhibit at Kunstnerforbundet in 2027 or 2028?
The application deadline is Monday, 1 September 2025.
Who can apply
We accept applications from professional visual artists, craft artists, duodji practitioners and freelance curators in the visual art field living in or connected to Norway and Sápmi. We accept applications from individual artists and curators, and artist groups and collectives.
Kunstnerforbundet is committed to diversity in its programming, and we encourage all professional artists to apply, regardless of education, organizational affiliation, gender, ethnic background, religion, functional ability, age and orientation.
Changes in the application process
Kunstnerforbundet makes changes to our open call for exhibitions:
Announcement for two years: Previously, we have had annual open calls for exhibitions for one year at a time. From this year, our open call will go out biannually and accept applications for exhibition space for two years at a time. This means that this year you can apply for an exhibition in Kunstnerforbundet in the period 2027 and 2028. In the application form you can fill out which year(s) you apply for.
New requirement for applying for an exhibition space: If you have had a solo exhibition in Kunstnerforbundet in the last 5 years (after 1 September 2020) or you are going to have other exhibitions in Oslo in 2027-2028, you can unfortunately not apply for an exhibition space.
About the application
The application consists of a project description/proposal, desired exhibition space, desired exhibition year, artist CV as well as visual documentation of previous artistic work and/or sketches for the exhibition project attaches as pictures, video and/or sound. The application may be written in Norwegian, Scandinavian languages, English or Sámi languages.
The application is submitted via the Kunstnerforbundet online application portal within the application deadline (the application portal will open on 5 August). Read the application criteria text carefully before you start filling in the application form. Please note the limitations on text length and the number of attachments in the application.
Applications that are not received by the deadline, or that are incomplete, will be rejected. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications via letter, e-mail, as a PDF or other digital or physical formats.
Evaluation of the applications
The jury consists of the board and the director of Kunstnerforbundet who make the professional assessments of the applications. Based on the applications, the jury will make an exhibition program for 2027-2028 in Kunstnerforbundet.
Important dates
Application deadline: Monday 1 September 2024 at 12 am (midnight).
Answers can be expected around the turn of the year.

The link will take you to your user page and your application. Due to GDPR regulations, all user accounts and applications are deleted one year after the application period.
You may edit and save your application up until the deadline. Please complete and submit your application well in advance to avoid any trouble and overload on the application portal due to many users at the same time. Please mark that you cannot edit a submitted application.
The application portal will close after the deadline, and it will not be possible to edit or send in additions or attachments to the application.
